ancelotti-confirms-neymar-will-feature-against-scotland-after-missing-brazils-opening-two-world-cup-matches

Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Neymar Jr will feature in the South American side’s final World Cup group-stage match against Scotland after missing their opening two fixtures of the tournament.

Ancelotti made the announcement on Saturday following Brazil’s 3-0 victory over Haiti at the Philadelphia Stadium, a result that secured their second group-stage outing.

Neymar has been sidelined since suffering a calf injury before the World Cup got underway earlier this month.

The Santos forward was absent from Brazil’s 1-1 draw against Morocco and their convincing win over Haiti.

Brazil’s victory over Haiti was powered by a brace from Matheus Cunha and an additional goal from Vinicius Jr, as the five-time world champions cruised to a comfortable win.

Providing an update on Neymar’s recovery after the match, Ancelotti expressed confidence that the forward would be available for the clash against Scotland.

During his post-match interview after defeating Haiti, the Italian tactician, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano, said: “Neymar will train individually tomorrow, then Sunday back training with the team, and then called up against Scotland.”

Neymar remains Brazil’s all-time leading scorer, having netted 79 goals for the national team.
