Germany beat Curaçao 7-1 in a dominant World Cup performance at the NRG stadium in Texas, marking their superiority and garnering momentum and confidence for their World Cup campaign.

Germany took control of the game from the outset, been the better team in term of possessions, link up play and chances created, preying on Curaçao’s inexperience and mistakes.

Nmecha gave Germany the lead in the sixth minute, by converting a return pass from Florian Writz outside the box, and curled a right-footed shot into the far corner, far away from the goalkeeper’s control.

Curaçao equalized in the 21st minute, with Livano Comenencia, after latching onto a loose ball inside the box. Following a blocked effort from Jürgen Locadia, the ball fell kindly to Comenencia, who fired a left-footed shot through a crowd of defenders and past Manuel Neuer. The goal was Curaçao’s first ever at a FIFA World Cup.  

The momentum were shifting between both teams until the 37th minute, when Nico Schlotterbeck restored Germany’s lead through a corner kick, that went past the goalkeeper into the post, making it his first senior international goal for Germany.

The Germans gets awarded a penalty in the 43rd minute of the game, after a foul committed on Felix Nmecha in the penalty box, which Kai Havertz slotted home to extend Germany’s lead.

In the 47th minute, Musiala further stretched Germany’s lead by converting a stunner pass from Joshua Kimmich into the box, then taking a shot right past the goalkeeper into the back of the net, almost leaving curaçao with no momentum left.

Germany scored their fifth goal of the match in the 68th minute, with a clinical finish from Nathaniel brown in the opponents box. Deniz Undav added their sixth goal in the 78th minute, completely demolishing Curaçao.

Havertz added a seventh goal for Germany in the 88th minute, finishing over a Curaçao defender into the box, and sealing their convincing win.

This commanding win intensifies their momentum going into their next two games, with fixtures coming on June 20 against Ivory Coast and June 25 against Ecuador.
