Werder Bremen have completed the signing of Nigerian forward Victor Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen on a season-long loan deal, with no option to buy.

Bremen’s sporting director Peter Niemeyer hailed the move, describing Boniface as a proven performer in the Bundesliga.

“We are pleased that we were able to complete the loan and secure Victor’s services. He has shown outstanding performances in the Bundesliga and has proven his qualities. We are convinced that he can continue that,” Niemeyer said.

The 24-year-old expressed excitement about the switch, emphasising his determination to make an impact in Bremen’s attack.

“The discussions with those in charge convinced me to make the move to Werder Bremen. I want to contribute with my performances in helping us achieve our common goals this season. I’m looking forward to my new team and my time at Werder Bremen,” Boniface said.

Boniface leaves Bayer Leverkusen with a strong record, having scored 32 goals and provided 12 assists in 61 appearances across all competitions, while helping the club secure a historic Bundesliga and DFB Pokal double.

His arrival marks a positive close to Bremen’s transfer window, alongside the signings of Isaac Schmidt and Yukinari Sugawara.
