President Bola Tinubu on Monday rewarded Nigeria’s Super Falcons with $100,000 each and a three-bedroom home for every member of the team, following their remarkable comeback victory at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
In addition, each member of the technical team is to receive $50,000, along with a three-bedroom apartment in the Renewed Hope Housing Estate. The President announced the rewards during a reception held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he honoured the players and officials for their performance.

“You have demonstrated an indomitable spirit of resilience, determination, and courage,” President Tinubu said. “This victory couldn’t have been more historic.”
The Super Falcons had defeated host nation Morocco 3-2 in a dramatic final on Saturday, coming back from a two-goal deficit to clinch their 10th WAFCON title — a record in the tournament’s history.

The players and coaching staff arrived at the Villa at exactly 4:36 p.m. in coaster buses and were received at the forecourt by the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, before meeting with the President.
President Tinubu commended the team not just for their victory, but for lifting national pride at a critical time. “You have reminded us of the resilient spirit that defines Nigeria,” he said.

He admitted watching the match was nerve-wracking, noting that he nearly gave up when Nigeria trailed by two goals. “It was a tough game to watch,” he said. “I almost gave up, but you didn’t — and that is the Nigerian spirit.”
Beyond the monetary and housing rewards, the President also conferred national honours on all the players and officials, describing their performance as “an inspiration to millions of Nigerians and Africans alike.”
The celebration at the Villa marks a significant moment for the Super Falcons, who have now won four of the last five WAFCON tournaments, in 2014, 2016, 2018, and now 2025.
