soludo-sworn-in-for-second-term,-says-anambra-back-to-winning-ways

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has been inaugurated for a second term in office, declaring that the state is now “back to winning ways” following significant progress in security and infrastructure.

The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Dr Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, attracted prominent dignitaries from across Nigeria, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, as well as the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and elder statesman Emeka Anyaoku.

Soludo took the oath of allegiance and office at about 11:50am, alongside his wife, Dr Nonye Soludo, marking the commencement of another four-year tenure expected to run until 2030.

In his inaugural address, the governor described his first term as a period of laying strong foundations, particularly in tackling insecurity and rebuilding infrastructure.

“Barely three years in office, we have delivered over 90 percent of our manifesto,” Soludo said, citing projects such as the Ekwulobia flyover and the construction of a new Government House.

He noted that his administration had dismantled 64 criminal camps, ended the long-standing Monday sit-at-home disruption, and restored economic and social activities across the state.

“Traders have returned to the markets and civil servants are back to work. Anambra is now back to winning ways,” he declared.

Soludo also extended a hand of fellowship to his political opponents, emphasising the need for unity and collective responsibility in governance.

“Politics is over; it is time for governance. I will continue to be governor for all,” he said.

Looking ahead, the governor promised to accelerate development efforts, stating that his administration would “shift to gear four” to drive prosperity for future generations.

On national politics, Soludo expressed a desire to see an Igbo president, but suggested that the timing may not yet be right. He also praised President Bola Tinubu, describing him as a “cerebral leader.”

In his remarks, Vice President Kashim Shettima commended Soludo’s leadership, describing him as courageous and steadfast.

“Soludo has shown courage and what it means to be a leader. Anambra has every reason to look ahead with hope,” Shettima said.

The ceremony marked a new chapter for the state as Soludo begins his second term with renewed promises of development and inclusive governance.
