Nottingham Forest announced on Tuesday that Nuno Espirito Santo has left his role as First Team Head Coach with immediate effect, following weeks of tension between the parties, according to a club statement.
In the same statement, the club confirmed the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as NFFC’s new manager. Postecoglou brings over 25 years of coaching experience, having managed clubs in Australia, Japan, Scotland, and England, consistently achieving success at the highest level.
Postecoglou enjoyed notable spells with Brisbane Roar and Yokohama F. Marinos, winning league titles with both sides. He then took charge at Celtic in June 2021, guiding the Scottish club to a domestic double in his first season and a treble in his second, earning a nomination for FIFA World Coach of the Year in 2023.
In England, Postecoglou managed Tottenham Hotspur, finishing fifth in his debut season and leading the club to its first major trophy in 17 years by winning the Europa League in 2024/25, securing Champions League qualification.
Commenting on the appointment, Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis said: “We are bringing a coach to the Club who has a proven and consistent record of winning trophies. His experience of coaching teams at the highest level, along with his desire to build something special with us at Forest, makes him a fantastic person to help us on our journey and achieve consistently all our ambitions.
“After gaining promotion to the Premier League, then building consistently season after season to secure European football, we now must take the right step to compete with the very best and challenge for trophies. Ange has the credentials and the track-record to do this, and we are excited he is joifarning us on our ambitious journey.”
