A high-powered Federal Government delegation has arrived in Saudi Arabia ahead of the funeral of renowned Nigerian business magnate and elder statesman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, who passed away in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Saturday at the age of 94.
According to a statement by Rabiu Ibrahim, Special Assistant to the Minister of Information and National Orientation, the delegation departed Nigeria late on Sunday and arrived in Madinah in the early hours of Monday, 30th June 2025.
The delegation is led by the Minister of Defence and former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, and includes Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris; and Minister of State for Housing Development, Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata.
Also part of the delegation are prominent Islamic clerics, Dr Bashir Aliyu Umar, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, and Khalifa Abdullahi Muhammad, Imam of Dantata Mosque, Abuja.
They were joined by members of the Nigerian Consulate General in Jeddah, led by Ambassador Muazzam Ibrahim Nayaya, who had been coordinating logistics for the burial rites scheduled to take place later on Monday in Madinah, one of Islam’s holiest cities.
The funeral is expected to draw dignitaries and sympathisers from across the Muslim world, given Alhaji Dantata’s stature as a respected elder statesman, philanthropist, and key figure in Nigeria’s industrial and commercial history.
