The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed that 231 people have died, 607 injured, and 315,762 affected by flooding across 25 states this year.
The agency said 114 persons were missing, 113,367 displaced, 40,493 houses destroyed, and 46,304 farmlands washed away.
According to NEMA’s updated 2025 flood dashboard released on Saturday , 86 LGAs were impacted, with Lagos (52,013 affected), Adamawa (51,713), and Akwa Ibom (46,233) among the worst hit.
Children were most affected, with 143,683 impacted, compared to 100,079 women, 60,408 men, 11,592 elderly, and 2,265 persons with disabilities.
Key challenges in the flood response include resource shortages (69%), inaccessibility (16%), community resistance (7%), and security risks (6%).
The agency identified food, shelter, WASH, health, livelihood, nutrition, education, protection, and security as the most urgent needs.
