Manchester United have reached a full agreement to sell Antony to Real Betis for an initial transfer fee of €25 million, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported.
Ornstein revealed that Real Betis initially sought to re-sign the 25-year-old on another loan deal, but negotiations concluded with a permanent move. Add-on clauses could increase the total fee to €28 million, while Manchester United will retain a 50% sell-on clause.
Antony scored nine goals and provided five assists in 26 appearances during his loan spell at Real Betis last season, prompting the Spanish side to secure his services after weeks of talks with the Red Devils.
A deal was agreed in principle last week, but discussions were briefly stalled over a wage reduction Antony would need to accept. The dispute has now been resolved, with Manchester United confirming they will not subsidise his wages.
The Brazilian becomes only the second Manchester United player to leave for a transfer fee this summer, following Alejandro Garnacho’s €46.2 million move to Chelsea. Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford has joined Barcelona on loan, and both Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia are in talks for potential departures before Transfer Deadline Day.
Ruben Amorim’s side are also pursuing Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez as they look to replace Andre Onana, who has struggled to make an impact in the Premier League and endured a difficult night in Manchester United’s Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby Town last week.
