if-peter-obi-refuses-to-resign,-we-will-do-it-for-him,-labour-partys-ayo-olorunfemi-declares

Labour Party Deputy National Chairman, Dr. Ayo Olorunfemi has urged Peter Obi to formally resign from the party following his involvement in a new political coalition formed on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In an interview with ARISE NEWS on Thursday, Olorunfemi described the ADC-led coalition as an assembly of “recycled, desperate, and frustrated politicians” and accused Peter Obi of aligning with political elements the party had always opposed.

“We take exception to somebody we gave a platform to someone who claimed to represent a new brand of politics now joining forces with the same people who destroyed the country,” Olorunfemi said. “That means he never truly believed in what we stood for.”

He dismissed the ADC coalition as a “conglomeration of power mongers,” saying the notion of a “new Nigeria” cannot be built with individuals who had repeatedly failed the nation.
In his words, “Evil is about fighting evil. The same people who ruined this country are now gathering to pretend they can fix it.”

Olorunfemi insisted that Labour Party’s identity remains intact without Obi. “Obi didn’t make the Labour Party, he joined when the party was already solid. Now that he’s left, others are returning in large numbers. This time, we are building around ideology, not individuals.”

He also announced that the party would unveil a younger, more credible presidential candidate by 2027 one who is “not up to 60 years old and has excelled in their field without stealing government money.”

Addressing internal divisions and public disappointment, Olorunfemi acknowledged past mistakes, including building political structures around Obi. “We learned. We won’t make that mistake again. We’ve rebranded our youth wing from ‘Obidient’ to the Directorate of Mobilisation and Integration.”

He stressed that Labour Party’s mission remains rooted in social democracy and the pursuit of a just and empathetic Nigeria.

Responding to Obi’s continued silence on formally leaving the party, Olorunfemi declared, “If Peter Obi refuses to do a letter to that effect, his exit, we will do it for him.”

Despite political turbulence, Olorunfemi called on supporters nationwide to stay focused. “We have refused to release the party to those who want to use it for selfish purposes. Nigerians should stay committed. We are coming in 2027 to take over for the betterment of this country and the world.”
