Several Google services, including YouTube, were inaccessible in Turkey and parts of Europe on Thursday, according to the Turkish deputy minister for telecommunications and a local internet monitor.
The Freedom of Expression Association, which tracks online censorship in Turkey, reported that the outage affecting Alphabet’s Google began around 10:00 a.m. local time (07:00 GMT) in Turkey.
Omer Fatih Sayan, Turkey’s deputy minister, said on X that the local cybersecurity watchdog had requested a technical report from Google regarding the disruption. A map shared by Sayan indicated that the outage affected Turkey, large portions of southeastern Europe, and certain areas in Ukraine, Russia, and western Europe.
