The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Felix Morka has strongly criticised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his comments on the recent Rivers State local government election, describing them as reckless and a call to anarchy.
In an interview with ARISE NEWS, Morka dismissed Atiku’s claim that the election represented a “travesty of democracy,” insisting it carried no weight. “It doesn’t hold any water because it’s simply a call to anarchy by a former vice president who is sulking, whose party showed nothing in that election, was a no show, didn’t perform, didn’t call out their members because they don’t have any members in that state.”
He noted that Atiku’s words should not be taken seriously by the people of Rivers State.
He said, “We have the likes of Atiku Abubakar and some opposition leaders who’d rather just dismiss everything and call for anarchy,” Morka said. “But the good people of Rivers State know better. They voted, they voted massively for our party. They will not heed the incendiary comments of the former vice president, because he is not a citizen of Rivers State. He did not vote in that election. He cannot dictate to the people of Rivers State how they vote.”
Morka further argued that Atiku’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was “a no-show” in the local government election, stressing that the party lacked real grassroots presence not only in Rivers but across the participating states.
“When he calls for people to rise up and fight, the people of Rivers State, we trust them to ignore such an irresponsible call because it is not in their interest,” Morka added. “The people of Rivers State are the best judges of their own best interest. Atiku Abubakar’s opinion is absolutely irrelevant.”
The APC maintained that its victory at the polls was legitimate and a reflection of the will of the electorate in Rivers State.
