Federal High Court ends manual filings April 24, introduces e-filing system and ₦10,000 penalty for document misrepresentation or claim understatement.

The Federal High Court Lagos Division is going digital. From April 27, 2026, all new case filings must be done electronically.

‎The Court has announced that manual filing of new cases will end on April 24. From then on, lawyers must use the new e-filing platform. Cases already filed before the transition will continue under the manual system until judgment.

‎According to a statement, any understatement of claims or misrepresentation of documents will attract a ₦10,000 penalty per filing, plus outstanding fees.

‎To access the platform, lawyers must obtain a Legal Mail account. Law firms must also upload their CAC registration documents. Oath-related documents will go through the e-Affidavit portal, though deponents must still appear before a Commissioner for Oaths.
