Nigeria’s D’Tigers have bowed out of the 2025 AfroBasket in Angola after suffering a 91-75 defeat to Senegal in their quarter-final clash at the Pavilhão Multiusos de Luanda on Wednesday.
The Nigerian side, who had stormed through the group stage with three wins from three games, failed to replicate that blistering form when it mattered most.
D’Tigers started brightly, edging the first quarter 24-23, but their momentum quickly faded. Senegal seized control in the second quarter, building an 11-point lead at halftime with the scoreboard reading 53-42.
The Senegalese widened the gap in the third quarter, pushing their advantage to more than 20 points, as Nigeria struggled to find answers. By the final quarter, the contest had slipped beyond D’Tigers’ reach, with Senegal calmly sealing the win and advancing to the semi-finals.
The loss means Nigeria will now compete in classification games against other quarter-final losers to determine their final standing at the tournament.
