Chelsea have cancelled Nicolas Jackson’s loan move to Bayern Munich and will retain the 24-year-old striker following an injury to Liam Delap. Delap picked up anbinjury against Fulham and is expected to be sidelined for several months.
Jackson had already travelled to Germany to finalise the deal, but Chelsea requested his return, informing Bayern that the loan would not proceed, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic.
With Joao Pedro currently the club’s only available striker, Chelsea needed to strengthen their attacking options. Jackson is now set to gain more opportunities in the coming weeks and could become a key player under Enzo Maresca.
The Senegal international has already shown promise at Stamford Bridge, and his presence provides the squad with much-needed depth during Delap’s absence as Chelsea aim to compete for major trophies.
