Chelsea have appointed Liam Rosenior as their new men’s head coach, confirming a decisive long-term commitment as the club looks to reassert itself at the top of English and European football.
The appointment was confirmed in a club press release on Tuesday, with Chelsea announcing the Englishman has signed a contract running until 2032. Rosenior joins from RC Strasbourg, where he impressed by leading the Ligue 1 side into European qualification for the first time in 19 years during his debut season in France.
Announcing the move, the club said Rosenior arrives at Stamford Bridge after “coaching overseas with RC Strasbourg” and following earlier managerial spells with Hull City and Derby County, building a reputation for clear tactical ideas and high standards.
Speaking in the release, Rosenior said: “I am extremely humbled and honoured to be appointed Head Coach of Chelsea Football Club. This is a club with a unique spirit and a proud history of winning trophies.”
He added: “My job is to protect that identity and create a team that reflects these values in every game we play as we continue winning trophies.”
Rosenior stressed unity and collective purpose as central to his vision, saying: “I believe deeply in teamwork, unity, togetherness and working for one another, and those values will be at the heart of everything we do. They will be the foundation of our success.”
Chelsea’s hierarchy believe the 40-year-old can quickly maximise the potential of a talented squad, with the statement noting that while player development remains important, “the Club’s expectations and ambitions remain high.”
The release concluded with a clear vote of confidence in their new coach’s remit and support: Rosenior joins Chelsea “with the responsibility and the backing to ensure Chelsea continues to compete at the top level in all competitions this season and in seasons to come.”
For a club seeking stability and renewed identity, Chelsea are betting that Rosenior’s modern approach and long-term mandate can deliver success both now and in the years ahead.
