Veteran politician and New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) chieftain, Buba Galadima, has declared that the party’s presidential candidate I the 2023 elections, Rabiu Kwankwaso, is the most viable political figure in Nigeria today and “the only politician the country needs and ought to follow.”
Speaking during an interview on ARISE NEWS on Friday, Galadima said, “We had several things being said in the social media, in the press, but that only goes to confirm that Kwankwaso is the only politician that this country needs and ought to follow, because he is such a strategic politician that he has decided to keep quiet and people are campaigning for him free of charge instead of spending money to launder his image.
“Everybody is saying he’s a good person. Everybody is saying he’s a capable person. Everybody says he has capacity to run this country. What else do you need in any politician more than that? Every Nigerian needs him. Every political party needs him. Why don’t they support him to become the president of Nigeria so that he can deliver the dividends of democracy?”
Galadima also dismissed rumours of Kwankwaso joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that the former Kano governor remains firmly rooted in the opposition and is only being courted because of his unmatched credibility.
“We heard several things that Ganduje’s resignation or forced removal was because the APC wanted to bring in Kwankwaso, and nobody has put any evidence on the table to suggest that Kwankwaso is joining the APC. He was even pictured carrying an APC membership card. Is that true? Of course we understand that the PDP, the APC, and even the coalition had been trying to woo Kwankwaso, but he has remained steadfast, remained strategic, and we will remain in our party strategically until the whistle is blown for politics,” he said.
Galadima then added that Kwankwaso’s pedigree, public service record, and popularity across Nigeria, particularly in the North, make him not only electable but an ideal leader for the country.
He also dismissed reports of an internal crisis within the NNPP, declaring that there is only one legally recognised faction of the party.
“There was an election held in Ondo. And there is an election going to be held in Anambra. Which logo of the political party is INEC displaying? There is only one NNPP.”
