Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare says the team remains positive and confident about securing qualification for the FIFA World Cup.
Speaking in an interview with ARISE News, The Wolverhampton Wanderers ppayer stressed the importance of determination, hard work and belief within the squad.
“I wouldn’t say the chances are high or low, I would say we just have to stay positive,” he said. “We just have to keep hoping, keep praying, keep working and if we do the right things at the right time, I think we’ll get the qualification. Me and the team, me and the players and the coaches, we’re all positive and we’re all confident about qualifying for the World Cup.”
The forward acknowledged Nigeria’s strong squad but cautioned against underestimating rival African teams.
“As much as Nigeria has a really good squad, every other national team of Africa have good teams too. So they have good players, they have great players. So we can’t just ignore the talent that Africa has and not focus on ours,” he said.
Arokodare further underlined the competitiveness of African football, warning that matches on the continent are rarely straightforward.
“So African football might seem easy from the outside, but it’s not. Going into all these games, we know the quality and the talent that these players and these teams possess and we just try to come out on top every time,” he said.
