The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has again assured President Bola Tinubu of victory in the 2027 presidential election in Rivers State.
He gave the assurance on Saturday while addressing the supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during his “thank you” visit to Port Harcourt City Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
Wike insisted that no one can push him or his supporters out or dissuade them from supporting the re-election of President Bola Tinubu for a second term in Rivers State.
He recalled how the people of the state stood by him and elected Tinubu in 2023 against all odds.
He said, “These are the foot soldiers of the Renewed Hope Family. If there is one state that the president knows he can go home and sleep with his two eyes closed, it is Rivers State.”
The minister also vowed that, now that the benefits of supporting Tinubu had begun to be realised, he would not allow anyone to rush in at the last minute and take the credit.
“In 2023, we led the struggle here. We were members of the Renewed Hope Agenda from the outset, and that was when we decided to support Tinubu.
“Now, those who were not there then, who went and supported Atiku Abubakar and failed to give him even 10 per cent votes, are now coming forward and saying they want to lead the Renewed Hope Agenda. Is it possible?
“You were not there from the beginning. You didn’t go to buy the pepper, the salt, or the oil.
“You did not participate in all these things. Suddenly, the food is ready; you jump in and want to be the first to eat. Is that possible? Nobody in this state can push us out,” he said.
He urged his supporters not to be afraid or deterred by detractors, but to remain united and focus their efforts on supporting Tinubu’s re-election.
He also explained that the visit was to thank people for their support in 2023 and to encourage continued collaboration, assuring them that 2026 would be better than 2025.
Earlier, the Chairman of Port Harcourt LGA, Sir Allwell Ihunda, commended Tinubu for ensuring the existence of democratically elected council chairmen in the state.
