Marcus Rashford has formally returned to Manchester United after the expiration of Barcelona’s €30 million purchase option, leaving the England international’s future unresolved ahead of the new season.
The buy clause, which would have allowed Barcelona to secure Rashford on a permanent deal, has now lapsed without being activated. Despite that, the Spanish champions remain interested in keeping the forward and are understood to be exploring the possibility of another loan arrangement.
Barcelona’s preference is currently for a temporary deal rather than a permanent transfer, while Manchester United are in no rush to make a decision on the player’s next move.
United are expected to assess their options in the coming weeks as the 28-year-old has now officially returned to Old Trafford, but uncertainty continues to surround his long-term future.
