Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has declared his intention to contest for the Agege Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections.
Obasa, a sixth-term lawmaker representing Agege Constituency I in the Lagos Assembly since 2003, formally announced his ambition during a stakeholders’ meeting held on Tuesday in Agege ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries.
The Speaker said his decision followed extensive consultations with party leaders and stakeholders within the constituency, who, according to him, urged him to seek a seat in the House of Representatives.
“I answered the call of our leaders and stakeholders who believe I can serve Agege better,” Obasa said.
He urged APC members in the constituency to remain united and committed as the ruling party prepares for its internal primary elections.
Obasa also used the occasion to rally support for Ganiyu Egunjobi, former chairman of Agege Local Government Area, who is seeking to represent Agege Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
“Egunjobi has served our people diligently and deserves the support of all loyal party members,” the Speaker said.
He further canvassed support for Azeez Ninolowo, an aspirant for Agege Constituency II, stressing the need for experienced and dedicated representatives at both the state and federal levels.
According to him, Agege requires leaders who understand the needs and challenges confronting residents of the constituency.
“We must present candidates with capacity, loyalty, and commitment to the progress of Agege,” he added.
