Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has directed all political appointees in the state to return to their respective local government areas ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections for the 2027 general elections.
The governor issued the directive on Wednesday during the State Executive Council meeting held at the newly inaugurated digital Council Chamber at the Katsina State Government House.
Radda said the month of May would be dominated by party activities, including screening exercises and primary elections for candidates seeking to contest various elective positions under the APC platform.
He therefore instructed political appointees to actively participate in the process at the grassroots level in line with directives from the party leadership.
“This month of May is a period we will all be engaged in party activities, from screening exercises to primary elections for our flagbearers for the 2027 elections,” Radda said.
“We expect all of you to participate actively and ensure peace is maintained throughout the process.”
The governor stressed the importance of peaceful and orderly conduct during the screening and primary election exercises, warning against actions capable of causing division or unrest within the party.
He said the success of the APC primaries would depend largely on the commitment and cooperation of party members and stakeholders at the grassroots level.
“So we hope that you participate in the exercise to ensure that peace is maintained and all of you should retire to your various local governments for the exercise as mandated,” he added.
Radda also urged party members and stakeholders to work together to preserve unity within the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
The State Executive Council meeting was held inside the newly commissioned digital Council Chamber, which features paperless operations, remote conferencing capabilities, synchronised smart audio systems, and a fully integrated digital platform aimed at improving government efficiency.
Under the new digital system, each member of the executive council will operate from a dedicated computer workstation equipped with official government email accounts and e-governance applications to enhance communication, coordination, and decision-making across ministries and agencies.
The governor described the digital chamber as part of his administration’s commitment to modernising governance and improving public sector efficiency in the state.
