French club, Paris Saint-Germain in a statement on Tuesday, confirmed  the signing of Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade who had left Atlético Madrid as a free agent.

“Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce the arrival of Nigerian striker Rasheedat Busayo Ajibade,” the club said in the statement. “The club is thrilled she has signed and warmly welcomes her into its women’s squad.”

Born in Lagos’ Mushin district in 1999, Ajibade rose to prominence at FC Robo Queens, earning the NFF Young Player of the Year award in 2018. Her career has since taken her across Europe, first to Avaldsnes IL in Norway before joining Spanish giants Atlético de Madrid in 2021.

During the 2024–25 season with Atlético, the forward made 25 appearances, scoring eight goals and providing three assists.

Ajibade’s impact extends beyond club football. As Nigeria’s captain, she has led the Super Falcons to two Women’s Africa Cup of Nations titles, in 2018 and again in 2024. She was also a key figure at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Paris Olympics, underlining her importance to the national team with over 30 caps to her name.

Ajibade’s move to the French capital is seen as a major boost for PSG’s attack and a significant moment for African women’s football, with the 25-year-old now set to test herself in Division 1 Féminine.
