Al-Ahli clinched the 2025 Saudi Super Cup 5–3 on penalties over Al-Nassr after 2–2 normal time; after regular time at Hong Kong Stadium.
Despite the loss, Cristiano Ronaldo marked a personal milestone by scoring his 100th goal for Al-Nassr during the match, becoming the first player in history to achieve this feat for four different clubs.
The match was tightly contested, with Ronaldo opening the scoring in the 41st minute through a penalty after Al-Ahli’s Ali Majrashi handled the ball in the box. Al-Ahli responded in first-half stoppage time, with Franck Kessié finishing low past Al-Nassr goalkeeper Bento after a well-placed pass from new signing Enzo Millot.
In the second half, Marcelo Brozovic restored Al-Nassr’s lead in the 82nd minute, capitalising on a poor clearance and firing home from inside the box. However, Al-Ahli equalised again in the 89th minute when Roger Ibañez headed in a Riyad Mahrez cross, sending the game into penalties.
The penalty shootout saw Al-Ahli convert all five of their attempts, while Al-Nassr missed one, handing Al-Ahli their second Saudi Super Cup title. Ronaldo converted his spot-kick, but teammate Abdullah Al-Khaibari’s miss proved decisive.
This victory marks Al-Ahli’s second Saudi Super Cup title, their first since 2016. For Ronaldo, the match was a bittersweet occasion, as his personal achievement was overshadowed by his team’s defeat. At 40 years old, Ronaldo continues to chase the unprecedented milestone of 1,000 career goals, needing around 60 more to reach that target.
