agbakahi:-adcs-campaign-is-a-dangerous-distraction-while-apc-focuses-on-real-development

George Agbakahi, the South East leader of the Tinubu Support Organisation, has sharply criticised the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing their ongoing campaign as a dangerous distraction from Nigeria’s real development needs ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking during an interview on ARISE NEWS on Friday, George Agbakahi, criticised the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for what he described as “a dangerous distraction” amid the run-up to the 2027 presidential election.

He said, “In ADC, you see the publicity secretary, Mr. Abdullahi, campaigning both on social media, on electronic media, on print media, campaigning almost on a daily basis. There has been no official campaigning from either the party or the presidency in APC. These are all different organizations. They are people that are supporting the APC. You know, and based on freedom of expression, they all have the right to support who they want to support. But I’m talking about the main piece of ADC is always campaigning.”

Agbakahi also accused opposition parties of lacking vision and agenda, stating, “All we are hearing from African Democratic Congress is just abusing the current administration. There is no vision. There is no policy. There is no agenda. I think what we see is like old wine in a new bottle. All of them in African Democratic Congress are about the same.”

He emphasised the APC’s commitment to progress and the welfare of Nigerians, pointing out achievements under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

“The point remains that APC and President Bola has done a whole lot to improve the well-being of Nigerians. That’s just the truth. We all know that inflation has come down. When President Bola came on board, inflation was about 40.50. As we speak, inflation has come down drastically to 22.22 percent. A lot is happening.”

Agbakahi further highlighted infrastructural development in the southeast, noting,

“Go to southeast and see exactly what is going on there. The president has done a whole lot in respect of infrastructural development in the southeast. Almost the major roads in the southeast are now under construction. Go to Enugu-Onitsha Road, that has not been touched by previous administrations. It is under construction. Go to Enugu-Port Harcourt Road. The same thing is applicable. It’s working. Aba to Ikotepene, that has not been touched for the past almost 18 to 20 years, is currently under construction as we speak.”

He also referenced the Southeast Development Commission’s role, adding, “The issue of Southeast Development Commission, SEDC, with 150 billion naira for them to use in economic development, is working. The president has done a lot in the southeast.”

The Tinubu Support leader concluded by warning against political distractions that undermine the country’s unity and progress. “If anybody talks about a parallel government, me, I think they should be rebuked and condemned,” he said.
