apc-is-a-cancer-that-must-be-excised-from-nigeria,-former-governor-lamido-blasts-ruling-party

PDP chieftain and former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, has launched a scathing criticism of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as a destructive force that must be removed for Nigeria to thrive.

Speaking during an interview on ARISE News on Tuesday, Lamido said the APC had failed the country and likened it to a deadly disease that needed urgent removal.

“We must remove this cancer called APC,

which we can call malaria, cancer level 4,” he said. “APC is our problem. We must remove that corruption, which has become a cancer in Nigeria. And it has to be excised out.”

He warned Nigerians against re-electing the APC or any of its leaders in future elections, arguing that the party’s failures have been consistent across different administrations.

“APC in 2014, 2019, 2023. It’s the same thing. If Tinubu is Buhari, they’re all APC. Never vote for them because it’s a failure of the party and party leaders of Nigeria,” Lamido said.

While backing the idea of a political coalition to counter APC dominance, Lamido stressed that the focus should be on uniting Nigerians around key national issues, not personalities.

“I’m willing to support any arrangement, by whatever nomenclature, especially now, to restore Nigeria. It’s not about Tinubu. It’s about APC,” he said.

Lamido maintained that for democracy to thrive, the political discourse must shift from individuals to institutions and ideologies, urging stakeholders to stop “diverging about the issue” and instead “become focused on the issue.”

The former minister of foreign affairs also questioned the commitment of some opposition figures, urging them to “slow down” and build strong party structures rather than floating on what he described as “nothing.”
